By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake the path,

You are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: When they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This permission is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that you practise self-restraint. And God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

If any one's trial is intended by God, you have no authority in the least for him against God. For such - it is not God's will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.

  25. And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by God, that they were with you?" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into nothing but ruin.

A light and guidance to man: But you make it into separate sheets for show, while you conceal much of its contents: Therein were you taught that which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say: "God sent it down.": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling.

  30. As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you have no part in them in the least: Their affair is with God. He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.

You are our Protector: So forgive us and give us Your mercy; for You are the best of those who forgive.

We directed Moses by inspiration, when his thirsty people asked him for water: "Strike the rock with your staff!": Out of it there gushed forth twelve springs: Each group knew its own place for water. We gave them the shade of clouds, and sent down to them manna and quails, saying: "Eat of the good things We have provided for you.": but they rebelled; to Us they did no harm, but they harmed their own souls.

As to those who believed but came not into exile, you owe no duty of protection to them until they come into exile; but if they seek your aid in religion, it is your duty to help them, except against a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance. And remember God sees all that you do.

  45. But the treaties are not dissolved with those Pagans with whom you have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in anything, nor aided any one against you. So fulfill your engagements with them to the end of their term: For God loves the righteous.

  111. "Now put your hand into your bosom, and it will come forth white without stain or harm: these are among the nine Signs you will take to Pharaoh and his people: For they are a people rebellious in transgression."

  115. So We sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses: "Suckle your child, but when you have fears about him, cast him into the river, but fear not nor grieve: For We will restore him to you, and We will make him one of Our apostles."

  118. It is God Who sends the Winds, and they raise the Clouds: Then does He spread them in the sky as He wills, and break them into fragments, until you see rain-drops issue from the midst thereof: Then when He has made them reach such of his servants as He wills behold, they do rejoice!-

  119. See you not that God merges Night into Day and he merges Day into Night; that He has subjected the sun, and the moon to his Law, each running its course for a term appointed; and that God is well-acquainted with all that you do?

  141. "This, because you used to take the Signs of God in jest, and the life of the world deceived you.": From that Day, therefore, they will not be taken out thence, nor will they be received into Grace.

  142. It is He Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers, that they may add faith to their faith; for to God belong the Forces of the heavens and the earth; and God is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom;

Were he, in many matters, to follow your wishes, you would certainly fall into misfortune: But God has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: Such indeed are those who walk in righteousness;

  144. If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make you peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other then fight you all against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of God; but if it complies then make peace between them with justice and be fair: for God loves those who are fair and just.

  145. O mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other not that you may despise each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted with all things.

  146. The sentence will be: "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter of God!-

He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when you are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.

  155. It is He Who got out the Unbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering of the forces. Little did you think that they would get out: And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from God. But the Wrath of God came to them from quarters from which they little expected it, and cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their dwellings by their own hands and the hands of the Believers, take warning, then, O you with eyes to see!

  156. And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith, and leave not, in our hearts, rancor or sense of injury against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful."

  157. The end of both will be that they will go into the Fire, dwelling therein for ever. Such is the reward of the wrong-doers.

  158. An Messenger, who rehearses to you the Signs of God containing clear explanations, that he may lead forth those who believe and do righteous deeds from the depths of Darkness into Light. And those who believe in God and work righteousness, He will admit to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: God has indeed granted for them a most excellent Provision.
