Then did Satan make them slip from the garden, and get them out of the state of felicity in which they had been. We said: "Get you down, all you people, with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood - for a time." O you who believe! Fear God as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam. God will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He separates what is evil from what is good. Nor will He disclose to you the secrets of the Unseen, but He chooses of His Messenger, For the purpose whom He pleases. So believe in God, And His apostles: And if you believe and do right, you have a reward without measure. O you who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until you can understand all that you say. Nor in a state of ceremonial impurity Except when travelling on the road, until after washing your whole body. If you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes from offices of nature, or you have been in contact with women, and you find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For God does blot out sins and forgive again and again. O you who believe! when you prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands and arms to the elbows; Rub your heads with water; and wash your feet to the ankles. If you are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes from offices of nature, or you have been in contact with women, and you find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, God does not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favor to you, that you may be grateful. Nor do you ever pray for any of them that dies, nor stand at his grave; for they rejected God and His Messenger, and died in a state of perverse rebellion. They will present their excuses to you when you return to them. Say you: "Present no excuses: We will not believe you: God has already informed us of the true state of matters concerning you: It is your actions that God and His Messenger will observe: In the end will you be brought back to Him Who knows what is hidden and what is open: Then will He show you the truth of all that you did." But those in whose hearts is a disease, it will add doubt to their doubt, and they will die in a state of Unbelief. So the king said: "Bring you him unto me." But when the messenger came to him, Joseph said: "Go you back to your lord, and ask him, `What is the state of mind of the ladies who cut their hands´? For my Lord is certainly well aware of their snare." "Namely those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrong-doing to their own souls." Then would they offer submission with the pretence, "We did no evil knowingly." The angels will reply, "Nay, but verily God knows all that you did; Namely those whose lives the angels take in a state of purity, saying to them, "Peace be on you; enter you the Garden, because of the good which you did in the world." Such being their state, we raised them up from sleep, that they might question each other. Said one of them, "How long have you stayed here?" They said, "We have stayed perhaps a day, or part of a day." At length they all said, "God alone knows best how long you have stayed here... Now send you then one of you with this money of yours to the town: Let him find out which is the best food to be had and bring some to you, that you may satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you. He went into his garden in a state of mind unjust to his soul: He said, "I deem not that this will ever perish, So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: "O my people! Did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long in coming? Or did you desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so you broke your promise to me?" They will abide in this state: And grievous will the burden be to them on that Day, Such is his state: And whoever holds in honor the symbols of God, in the sacrifice of animals, such honor should come truly from piety of heart. Or the Unbelievers' state is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by dark clouds: Depths of darkness, one above another: If a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! For any to whom God gives not light, there is no light! God has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance of power, as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change their state, after the fear in which they lived, to one of security and peace: `They will worship Me alone and not associate anything with Me. `If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked. So he saw the morning in the city, looking about, in a state of fear, when behold, the man who had, the day before, sought his help called aloud for his help again. Moses said to him: "You are truly, it is clear, a quarrelsome fellow!" He therefore got away therefrom, looking about, in a state of fear. He prayed "O my Lord! save me from people given to wrong-doing." It is God Who created you in a state of helpless weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then, after strength, gave you weakness and a hoary head: He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power. But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: So they are in a confused state. Again turn your vision a second time: your vision will come back to you dull and discomfited, in a state worn out. They say now: "What! Will we indeed be returned to our former state?
